I Love a little at home spa luxury and for me this includes tub time complete with yummy bath bombs. The smell, the colours, the softness - I love it all, however I could do without the $8 price tag. Once in a while I treat myself to one of Lush's colourful creations but for the most part I enjoy making my own. Here's how you can make your own scent-sational bath bombs without breaking the bank.
1 cup citric acid
1 cup baking soda
1 cup Epsom Salts
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup coconut oil (melted)
12 drops essential oil
Dried flowers or lavender optional
Measure & mix all the dry materials in one bowl & the wet in another. Note: You can use as much or as little essential oils & food colouring as you like. There's no right or wrong here, simply a matter of preference.
Slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry, mixing and kneading to spread the oil. (If you dump the liquid in too quickly you'll ruin the citric acid and they won't fix up come tub time.) Once everything is nicely mixed, spoon it into your molds packing it tightly. Place the molds in the fridge for at least 30 minutes and once they've solidified you can pop them out and enjoy.
*Solid molds without detail work much better than fancy ones because the materials don't take well to intricate or small designs, so try a nice simple shape to start.
